Our Story

The origin story of D.O. woodwork is as unique as the pieces we create. As a young adult, I started a 14 year career in the food industry. At age 30 I decided to make a drastic career change and enter the carpentry field. My father had been in the business for over 30 years, so we partnered up and opened a residential remodeling company together. Given his expertise, experience, and wealth of knowledge about the industry, I had the best teacher I could hope for. After 8 years of hands on experience, I began to realize that my true passion was woodworking. Taking rough sawn lumber and turning it into something beautiful and useful is not only fun and enjoyable for me but also very satisfying. What I thought was going to be a small hobby for me, quickly blossomed into something more. From this hobby, D.O. Woodwork was born!

My initial focus was to blend my love of cooking with woodworking. I realized quickly that I could create items from beautiful hardwoods that would not only be functional in the kitchen but would add warmth and character to the space as well. From sushi boards to cookbook stands, we are always working to improve upon or create something useful and unique for the home. We have since branched out into creating many other products including coffee and end tables, book cases and shelving, and some custom top work as well. We are always open to custom orders as well. If there is something you want that you don’t see, please ask! We are a small, two man shop, but we would love the opportunity to take any vision you may have and turn it into a reality!
